  • No smack talk here... You guys and gals are awesome! 9700+ miles with one day to go. If we all do 3 miles each tomorrow, we've got 10K. Piece of cake. - Shane Carpenter - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) Jun 19
  • I just finally got caught up reading all the smack talk - Roger you make me laugh, I can just hear the Doritos now... crunch.crunch.crunch... What happened to the little oreo packs, did you only eat those because that was all we had? This has been a great walk and I have truly enjoyed listening to all the smack talk. I hope to meet everyone in time, maybe we can have another ride soon. Carlton if you do a walk be sure to let everyone know the date and time. Thanks! - Lori McCarty - Patrick Henry CC 1 Jun 19
  • Agreed Lori! And Great job, WSLS Candice Nelson and her camera man, who were very accommodating to us in getting their story. Nice to see the parade of Tilleys in the story too. Shane, thanks for the link, I was just about to post it. :) - Roger Hamner - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) Jun 9
  • Agreed Lori! And Great job, WSLS Candice Nelson and her camera man, who were very accommodating to us in getting their story. Nice to see the parade of Tilleys in the story too. • Great job Carlton! It's just too bad you didn't have Angie's NRCC key fobs already on the motorcycles - we would have been able to see them flapping in the wind! - Lori Carpenter - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) Jun 9
  • I am looking forward to stepping on the scales tomorrow. I had to tighten my belt 4 times today on the range. It was HAWT! I hope ya'll like BBQ, because that is the marinade of the week from the NRCC range. We're deep fried, basted, oven roasted, and well-done. But thankfully we did have a breeze. I hear CVCC wasn't so lucky. - Shane Carpenter - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) Jun 8
  • WOW! I am shocked. A motorcycle related story in the news that is not talking about how so many poor unsuspecting motorcyclist meet their demise because of the extreme dangers of motorcycling. Good work VWCC. http://www.wsls.com/sls/news/local/article/motorcycle_classes_full_of_people_wanting_to_save_money/12212/ - Shane Carpenter - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) Jun 8
  • Tick...tick...tick...tick...tick...That's the sound of the clock up on the wall here in the classroom as we administer yet another "written celebration of knowledg." (test) There's no "tock" because it's an electrical clock...and good thing we don't have a coo coo clock in here...well...at least not in clock form. Of course when you eliminate the fresh bag of crunchy Doritos...you need a silent prayer..."Dear Lord, please let all farts be silent." Tick...tick...tick...tick... - Roger Hamner - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) Jun 8
  • Sounds like a great idea to me Carlton. It sounds like you just volunteered to coordinate it. - Shane Carpenter - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) Jun 6
  • HEY FOLKS.... Why not have a W4DP 3mile (or somethine) walk and or bike ride when Dennis gets back and feels like joining us. We can walk/ride the greenway here or somewhere and end up with a picnic in the park.... just an idea... Talk to me peeps - Carlton Mabe - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) Jun 6
  • Hey DP, You know, you getting sick has made a lot of people healthier!! I keep reading about weight losses and feeling better, and exercise. Even in adversity you're helping people. Now we have to find a way to keep it going where you can participate without all those nasty treatments. Seeya soon!! - Carlton Mabe - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) Jun 6
  • Hi everyone, I am happy to be walking for such a worthwhile cause. I have not logged on may miles but I feel every little bit helps. Sicne I have been walking I ahve lost about 14 lbs. and can do some things that were once difficult for me. But mainly I just want to see Dennis get well. I don't know him personally but we are all related in God's eyes. Best wishes.Ruth Bowles HC Bike Club Divas (PHcc 5) - Ruth Bowles - HC Bike Club Divas (Patrick Henry CC 5) Jun 6
  • Oh yea, and probably as a note to all other rider coaches...a fresh new bag of crunchy Doritos is probably not a good idea as you're waiting for them to complete the written...crunch...crunch...crunch...bag rustle...crunch...bag...crunch...I need to find a continuous loop of the final Jeopardy music. - Roger Hamner - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) Jun 1
  • Here I am...administering the "written celebration of knowledge" up here in the hizzle...lowest score wasa 98. I couldn't resist showing off the video...everyone commented on how cool and awesome and smack dab nasty and off the chizzle we look...eveyone loved Krissy's little love toot! You go little sis! Gotta get my teach miles in now because later...well...we all know how later is...zzzzzzzzzz...zzzzzzzzz... :) Love you all! - Roger Hamner - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) Jun 1
  • Rog, Maybe I'll just make you your very own video... - Shane Carpenter - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 29
  • Shane, thanks so much for the video but you don't have to worry about adding it...it's what I get for being too slow getting my gear on and getting up there with the group before the intersection, which is why I had to wait until after the flood. Good thing though, 'cause about two miles later, I would have been doing some major smacking on my head...which is what Steve told us to do if we had a problem. Kristen would have been looking in her rear view mirror thinking I was saying, "Wow, I could have had a V-8!" Good news on the bike though...got the call back this morning and it looks like a drive shaft and a coupler, plus a couple of seals and about two hours labor...so, a lot less painful than I expected. A very good day indeed. Hey Kris! I thought of a new ring tone for me in the mean time...Mister Mister...Broken Wings! Haha... Na, I like "No Ride" better by the Foghat cover band. ;) Later peeps! - Roger Hamner - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) May 29
  • I don't blame your wife. I'd put the cuffs on you too. You have a beautiful wife and children. - Debra Short - BM3D's (Central Virginia CC 1) May 28
  • And, yes, those are handcuffs in the picture from Sat. Notice that MY HOTTIE is the one holding on to them. (Inside joke, those of you who were there will recall my slip of the lip that almost got me in trouble... I called them "My hotties") Thankfully my wife is A-W-E-S-O-M-E. - Shane Carpenter - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 28
  • Roger, We had video of your last ride on the Wing as well as the last two bikes out, but I was tired and didn't want to fight with moviemaker to try to add it in. Maybe I'll do that later this week. - Shane Carpenter - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 28
  • Roger, What track were you at on the 25th? Sleeping Beauty, seen a picture of you in uniform Saturday..Always liked a man in uniform. Shane, back off - Dennis is my boss (funny thought-huh!) - Debra Short - BM3D's (Central Virginia CC 1) May 28
  • Woops...forgot props also to Anil and Maya for throwing down some killer pics too! You guys are also the "wicked shiz!" - Roger Hamner - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) May 27
  • OMG!!!!! That video is AWESOME BABY!!! Shane!! Lori!! You guys are the wicked shiz is video and picture taking. I think I've watched that thing at least 20 times so far. I love to just turn it up and listen to the stereo of all the bike going by. It's pretty cool...Harley...Harley...Not Harley...Harley...Not Harley...Not Harley...Harley...Harley...Not Harley...and then of course our very own Miss Kris with her little love toot at the very end. I feel like Carlton...I just can't tell you all how proud I am to have been associated with the day and this entire effort. Not to mention surely some of the most beautiful souls anyone could know. You guys absolutely ROCK THE PLANET! - Roger Hamner - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) May 27
  • Hey Peeps..... I'm just say'un... Thanks for letting me be a part of the ride today. It was and is an honor to be associated with you all. - Carlton Mabe - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) May 24
  • Lori, you folks may catch us, but I won't go down without a fight. Extra miles tomorrow and throughout the weekend. I sending out the word to my team - walk walk walk. Roger, I will go with a "Who" song but instead of "I can see for miles" it will be "I can walk for miles and miles and miles oh yeah" - John Poole - SLCK (Central Virginia CC 2) May 22
  • OK...I think Carlton (our head slacker) may need a little musical inspiration to compete against "the" hottie of hotties who just refuses to loose. How's about a little Frankie Valley and the Four Seasons...Walk Like A Man! Ooowhoooooooooooowahoo Walk, Walk... Ooowhoooooooooowhahoo...Walk like a man.. Oh, how you tried to cut me down to size Tellin' dirty lies to my friends But my own father said "Give her up, don't bother The world isn't comin' to an end" (Coaches sing along here)..."He told me..." Walk like a man, talk like a man Walk like a man my son No woman's worth crawlin' on the earth So walk like a man, my son Bye bye baby, I don't-a mean maybe Gonna get along somehow Soon you'll be cryin' on account of all your lyin' Oh yeah, just look who's laughin' now (Coaches) "He's going to..." Walk like a man, fast as I can Walk like a man from you I'll tell the world "forget about it, girl" And walk like a man from you... Ooowhoooooooooowhahoo... (Coaches).."Walk...walk...walk...walk." Seriously, SB, Carlton...you folks are truly an inspiration to us all. :) - Roger Hamner - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) May 21
  • John, I have been adding mine daily, no need for a lump sum amount. Now that all of our team members are regularly updating their miles, we may just pass your group - keeping watching. :>) - Lori McCarty - Patrick Henry CC 1 May 21
  • Lori, I have got to fire up a couple of my team members or you just might catch us. I see the big miles are being added by Sandra Dawson. Where are your big miles? :) Roger - which Hottie did you get those pants from? - John Poole - SLCK (Central Virginia CC 2) May 21
  • John we are right behind you guys - I know we can't catch Angie or Carlton, but we might catch you - watch out! - Lori McCarty - Patrick Henry CC 1 May 21
  • Debra, don't give him any ideas... - Shane Carpenter - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 20
  • Roger, I guess now you're 'too sexy for your pants'!!! - Debra Short - BM3D's (Central Virginia CC 1) May 20
  • TODAY!!!! My dear sweet and beautiful friends, I am wearing a pair of pants I haven't been able to wear for about a year now...because they just squeezed me a little too much...but now, for some odd reason, and I can only imagine why...they fit just fine. Hmmmmm, kinda motivates me to just want to keep walking. I may not need that bus station after all. :) See you all soon. - Roger Hamner - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) May 20
  • Who's got the video camera I am ready to do some dancing for Dennis.... We can do "Apple Bottom Jeans, and the boots with the fur... fur" Dennis you really are getting your GROOVE on in the video... I LOVE IT! - Kristin Shrewsbury - Virginia Western CC 1 May 19
  • Alright folks.... I am now on and ready to rock and roll.... This girlie will finish strong with the hands held in the air doing the Rocky jog :) - Kristin Shrewsbury - Virginia Western CC 1 May 19
  • 3000 miles folks. We've made it to the Pacific Coast... - Shane Carpenter - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 19
  • All right Covey!!....You vs Me... What's it worth????? Let's make it tough.... no bikes!! Let's see who can get home and who get's left on the side of the road :-) WHATDUSAY????? - Carlton Mabe - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) May 19
  • I'm trying to get them moving, but the darn COOP is getting in my way! I think Angie would agree with me that it would be funnier to see you and Dennis doing the dance! - Lori McCarty - Patrick Henry CC 1 May 16
  • I don't know who that was dancing, but lets see it again w/Angie in her running shorts - now that would be HOT. Lori lets get those PHCC teams moving girl! - John Poole - SLCK (Central Virginia CC 2) May 16
  • Roger, isn't that the dance you taught your little peeps?!!! - Lori McCarty - Patrick Henry CC 1 May 15
  • MY EYES! MY EYES!!!!!! - Shane Carpenter - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 15
  • Awwwwe, thanks Debra! That does kind of look like me on exercise 5...or any of the others for that matter...but I asure you, they would have to kill at least 2 more cows to wrap my slightly larger belly and rear end in that much leather...the word "slightly" being used loosely of course. Hehe...Come on baby...let's dance! Let me shake my lumps...my lovely Roger lumps...uh huh... ;) - Roger Hamner - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) May 15
  • I don't know who in the world put up that video of Dennis 'trying' to dance in his room in Atlanta, but I can assure you that is not Dennis. I have seen him dance in the halls of CVCC and he is much smoother than the video. I believe that masked man is Roger Hamner. - Debra Short - BM3D's (Central Virginia CC 1) May 15
  • Oh Carlton. Why did you have to go and challenge me again? Dag on YOU!!!!!! - Angie Covey - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 14
  • Debrah...thank you so much...I honestly don't know what happens...I put on the blasted hat and immediately I become completely full of myself! ;) Angie...great pic sweetness! I was really having a bad day until I saw you guys...y'all sure know how to bring the "happy" out in all of us! - Roger Hamner - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) May 14
  • Segment Two!?!? I think once I get, if I ever get to Atlanta, the only additional walking I'm doing is to the Greyhound bus station! My feetsies are killing me! Oh uh...Shane...I love your cow picture...is that supposed to be the new VWCC fleet? LOL!!! - Roger Hamner - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) May 14
  • Carlton, I have never met you but heard Dennis mention your name several times, just want you to know it's good to see people that will not give up even after a loss. YOU GOT SPUNK !!! LOVE IT. - Debra Short - BM3D's (Central Virginia CC 1) May 14
  • Ms. Covey, Congrats on your team victory....Hopefully we all win (healthy, you know) Just remember we didn't say where we would place the tags on our bikes..... under the seat maybe???? It might be time for another wager?????? :-) What about a one on one on total mileage over the 6 week period.... make it worth it. It'll be worth another loss to see you working so hard to beat me again :-) BRING IT ON!! - Carlton Mabe - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) May 14
  • Angie, great picture of Roger. He is definitely "too sexy" for his Tilley. - Debra Short - BM3D's (Central Virginia CC 1) May 14
  • Noooooooo, Shane. Couldn’t we at least stay and visit with Dennis for a day before we start back. My legs need a break and so does that blister on my foot. - Angie Covey - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 14
  • Lori McCarty walked all the way to CVCC from PHCC so I guess she can log a lot of miles once she walks back this evening. Go Lori Go! - John Poole - SLCK (Central Virginia CC 2) May 13
  • The ONLY reason that Wes (our chemistry professor/baseball coach) offered to take me to lunch today is because the faculty is having an appreciation luncheon for the college employees. Right Wes!!!!! He already new that lunch was on him!!! I think I will go ride the bike before lunch. - Angie Covey - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 13
  • Angie, I'm paying for the lunch!! Oh well, I guess there is nothing we can do to stop you now!! Only 22 more miles to go - sigh - we are not even close. - John Poole - SLCK (Central Virginia CC 2) May 13
  • Hey Carlton, What day next week is good for you for the ceremonial placing of the cow tags? I need to make sure the media is there. - Shane Carpenter - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 13
  • Hey Angie.. I've been hired to take you to lunch tomorrow so you wont get on the bike. - Wes Adcock - New River CC 2 May 12
  • Don't worry Angie, I will protect you! Don't mess with redneck biker chicks! Does anyone smell Cam2? - Jennifer Lanter - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 12
  • Uh oh. Sounds like a Tonya Harding and Nancy Kerrigan all over again. Better watch your back when you are out walking Angie. :) - Shane Carpenter - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 12
  • someone please stop the hotties!!! - John Poole - SLCK (Central Virginia CC 2) May 12
  • All I see in my rear view mirror is me in my Tilley! Hehe... That's why I don't wear it while walking 'cause I'm afraid I'll walk in to a wall or something. Debra...I'm not thinking ducks exactly...I'm thinking more like chickies...with lots of suds...bubbles...jet massage...glass of white wine...hmmmm...John...clean up my mind? Oh Hellllllll Naw! ;) - Roger Hamner - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) May 12
  • Is that Carlton Mabe from VWCC that I see in my REAR VIEW mirror? Wait a minute...sure enough, that is Carlton and he is leading a fleet/herd of VWCC training motorcycles with NRCC key fobs flapping in the wind...What a site we are all sure to see very soon. - Angie Covey - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 11
  • MOOOOOOOOO!! MOOOOOOOOOOO!! Did I just hear Angie & Shane say something...??????? - Carlton Mabe - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) May 10
  • OK you guys, you're too young to be talking about the sore legs and muscles! I work at a Physical Therapy office and I'll be sure to bring you some samples of Biofreeze Ointment. (I know from experience that it works- you smell like a star mint for a while - but it's worth it) Keep up the good work! - Tommy talked with Dennis this moring- he is really enjoying the site. Pam - Pam Meador - Virginia Western CC 1 May 10
  • Hey, can anybody come help us both up the steps???? - Shane Carpenter - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 9
  • My lovely wife did another 15 mile day today and just pushed us as a group over 1000 miles in 5 days!!!! That is Awesome! Now I need to go help her up the steps. - Shane Carpenter - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 9
  • Look out, when the picture section is added, I will get to see my Competition. If I post a picture, you will see what kind of old man is pushing you along. - John Poole - SLCK (Central Virginia CC 2) May 9
  • What about my legs? Don't answer that. Oh and Carlton, I heard on the police scanner last night that there were some cows loose at VWCC w/o ear tags... - Shane Carpenter - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 9
  • Hey Angie - You better bring it on today!! I'm walking twice with friends AND working Graduation....I've got my pedometer on!! AND the bike at the gym awaits tonight...ps your legs are look'n gooood girlfriend!!! - Carlton Mabe - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) May 9
  • Angie, that "10 mile breeze in the rain" was supposed to be entered as a bike ride, but 5 miles is 5 miles. I don't think there is anyway to correct it once you hit submit, sort'a like typing meeters for meters. Roger - clean you mind up! - John Poole - SLCK (Central Virginia CC 2) May 8
  • Three Ducks in a tub, right Roger? - Debra Short - BM3D's (Central Virginia CC 1) May 8
  • OK...I see the words "tri in bath" and automatically, my mind races to three in a bath tub and right away there I got mucho excited...for a nano moment. Life is so much fun sometimes when you blissfully take it out of context. - Roger Hamner - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) May 8
  • Hey John, I noticed that on 5/8 you commented “Thursday Morning 10 mile breeze in the rain” but only logged 5. I really really hate to point this out to you, but you are only limited to five miles when it comes to bicycling. - Angie Covey - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 8
  • Angie, the swim is 750 meeters the bike is a 20k and the run is a 5k. I see all the other smack talk about a tiley, I have two of 'em. - John Poole - SLCK (Central Virginia CC 2) May 8
  • John, If I can use Shane’s Tri(umph) Sprint for the riding portion, sign me up!!! BTW, what does this “Sprint Tri” consist of? - Angie Covey - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 8
  • Roger Baby,Had to give up the 'fumes'. Made a deal with my regular guys and told them I'd do the water if they would do the gas on Sunday after class. "Sleeping Beauty" said he would be glad to do it. Do you know "Sleeping Beauty"? P.S. When Dennis comes home I'm going to have to see if he'll get me a Tilley......So lonesome without him here to argue with !! - Debra Short - BM3D's (Central Virginia CC 1) May 8
  • There is a Tri(umph) Sprint in my driveway. :) - Shane Carpenter - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 8
  • Angie, there is a sprint tri in bath county on June 21. I'm going to be there. Come give it a Tri (get it). If this old man can do it anyone can. - John Poole - SLCK (Central Virginia CC 2) May 8
  • Hey Laura and Lori from PHCC. You need to get that sheriff of yours out and logging in some miles. Laura, don’t you carry a gun? Oh that’s right; the sheriff does too so never mind....You still have time to catch up. You ladies need to meet the NRCC ladies in Roanoke some time for a ride. Take care!! - Angie Covey - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 8
  • WOW! Sabrina Bailes (Southwest CC 1) is burning up some serious miles with 43 miles in the last 3 days. Angie, we should see about working out a trade. Oh wait, you'd probably trade me. Nevermind. - Shane Carpenter - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 7
  • What up Debraliscious!!! I can't believe you actually asked me that question...let's just say, as far as the two at lunch, well, I'm not talking about beers. And as for the track...well, I'm not talking about the horse racing track! Haha. You've been sniffing those gas fumes refueling all the Lynchburg bikes, haven't you? ;) Muuuuuwah! Kisses baby! - Roger Hamner - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) May 7
  • OK VWCC team #1- we've got to come up with a name and start adding up the miles- this 'ole man has got us started -(Pam wrote this) - Tommy Meador - Virginia Western CC 1 May 7
  • Hey Roger, I bet if you wore that Tilley the receptionist would not get tired of seeing you pass by. Hope to see you in the Tilley soon!!! - Angie Covey - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 7
  • Roger, What exactly does "Two at lunch today and two at the track" mean? You are walking, right? - Debra Short - BM3D's (Central Virginia CC 1) May 7
  • Oh John, my heart skipped a beat when I saw the word “Triathlon”, but then I breathed a sigh of relief when I saw that it is NEXT April. For a minute I thought you were going to be logging in a Triathlon. Shewwww - Angie Covey - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 7
  • Enough about marathons, lets hear from anyone who does Triathlons. My challange to anyone out there is to come to Lynchburg next April and do our Angels Tri. - John Poole - SLCK (Central Virginia CC 2) May 6
  • The Ben-Gay concession is mine for this event!! I've been there and done that, so I'll have it ready for you guys on Thursday!! - Carlton Mabe - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) May 6
  • I'll bring the Jello! :) :) :) - Roger Hamner - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) May 6
  • I have a feeling I am going to have to separate you two before this is over with... - Shane Carpenter - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 5
  • Hey Carlton. Our Robin Reed has done few marathons herself. Angie - Angie Covey - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) May 5
  • Oh..by the way, Did I tell you Gary is a Marathon runner???? - Carlton Mabe - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) May 5
  • I figured I'd get a jump start on Angie :-)!! - Carlton Mabe - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) Apr 30
  • I figured Angie and her crew would try to start early!!They need to. I trust Shane will clear the chart on the 4th :-). Hey angie, keep your tags for your own herd!! We'll make sure you have a nice pendant that alerts everyone that you are the head of the losing herd!! - Carlton Mabe - Carlton's Slackers (Virginia Western CC 2) Apr 30
  • Side Wager #1: Calton Mabe (VWCC 1) has challenged Angie Covey (NRCC 1) to the following: If 'VWCC 1' beats 'NRCC 1' in the challenge, Angie has to wear what Carlton is calling the 'NRCC loser pendant' for a whole week. If 'NRCC 1' beats 'VWCC 1,' Carlton has to use the NRCC 'cow tag' key FOBs on all of his trainer motorcycle keys for the rest of the year. - Shane Carpenter - NRV Hotties (New River CC 1) Apr 23
